Programs

Your PTA membership and generous donations make it possible for our school to offer these wonderful programs that benefit our children and our community as a whole. These programs also would not be possible without parents volunteering their time to organize, run and support them.

Part of the PTA mission is to support the whole family that includes the parents. Parent education events help parents gain insight about how to better support our children, and other topics of interest for parents.

The money PTA raises goes back to our many student and family programs and activities such as:

Accelerated Reader – Accelerated Reader is software for K-12 schools for practicing reading comprehension.  PTA has paid for this software for several years.   More details can be found at:  https://www.renaissance.com/products/practice/accelerated-reader-360/

NEW for 2018-19 – STAR Reading – Star Reading is an online assessment program for students in grades K-12.  PTA is paying for a portion of this software program in partnership with Lindstrom.  More details can be found at: https://www.renaissance.com/products/assessment/star-360/star-reading-skills/

6TH GRADE PROMOTION
6th grade promotion is a time for celebration for our departing students. Parent volunteers are needed to setup the event and clean up afterwards.

BOOK FAIR
Students love to buy books at our annual book fair! During the week, each class gets to come and buy books for themselves and their classrooms. Parent help is needed to run this event.

CLOTHING EXCHANGE
During a tight economy, family budgets don’t always stretch far enough to include new clothing. Sponsored by Lindstrom Elementary and Caring Connections, the annual event encourages families to donate their child’s gently used (clean) clothes they have outgrown to benefit others.

FIELD TRIPS
Visit to historical sites, museums, nature centers and more. Lindstrom PTA provides the bus transportation for each grade level every year. Volunteers are always needed to provide additional chaperones for field trips.

HOLIDAY FOOD DRIVE
Near the winter holidays, Lindstrom Elementary participates in the neighbor-to-neighbor assistance program called Project Shepherd. Students, parents and teachers collect canned goods, dry staples and gift cards in an effort to spread holiday cheer to struggling parents, youngsters and lonely seniors who may otherwise face a bleak Christmas.

RED RIBBON WEEK
The Red Ribbon Drug Awareness program is an annual National Drug awareness Campaign that stresses the hope for a drug free America. Lindstrom students celebrate this week with a kick off of fun activities that last throughout the week.

REFLECTIONS PROGRAM
Fine arts campaign sponsored by the National PTA, including student photography, visual arts, musical composition, dance choreography, literature and film/video production. Each year, the Reflections Program challenges students to create art that supports a specific theme. Participating in the Reflections Program provides opportunities for students to express themselves and receive positive recognition for their artistic efforts. Please fill in the volunteer page if you’d like to help out with the Reflections Program.

SCHOOL PICTURES
Students have the opportunity to take annual pictures several times throughout the school year. Fall pictures are scheduled on October 17th this year, while Spring pictures are on March 27th. Likewise, Lindstrom sixth graders take a Panoramic picture and our kindergarteners take their Promotional pictures on April 11.

SPIRIT FRIDAYS
Lindstrom Elementary encourages students, faculty/staff, and volunteers to show their school pride everyday, but especially on Fridays when classes with the most participation can earn rewards.

STUDENT ASSEMBLIES
The PTA provides the funds for Lindstrom student assemblies that include educational performances and presentations. (Americana Unlimited, Walk Through the Revolution)

TEACHER APPRECIATION
Teachers play a key role in student success and sometimes a simple “thanks” is all a teacher needs to feel valued. This year, parents and students will show their appreciation of Lindstrom’s teachers during May 5-9, 2014. Room parents generally organize each classroom’s teacher appreciation activities. Lindstrom PTA will also hosts a luncheon for teachers on May 13th.

YEARBOOK
A yearbook is a wonderful way to remember the fun and exciting events of the school year. Volunteers help document school events, organize and distribute the yearbook. Yearbook pre-sales take place February/March of each year.
